History

Holey Water was originally developed (1936) by Clare Hansen, father of Outlaw Trail’s long time friend and vet Dr. JC Hansen, DVM. Clare was a world-renowned Standard Bred trainer and driver. Was noted for his expertise to take marginal or injured horses and develop them into world class competitors. One of his “secrets” of training was using Holey Water to keep his horses sound. Holey Water would draw out soreness and swelling of strained ligaments and tendons. Holey Water was used as a preventative astringent and rub down for legs, muscles and backs. Clare Hansen was and still remains one of the top drivers in the world. Clare worked his horses and drove until the very day he passed away (75 yrs.) resting in his tack room after an afternoon race.

As a veterinarian, Doc JC Hansen took the use of Holey Water one step further by introducing this unique formula to every horse in his practice. Doc has partnered with the Outlaw Trail Heritage Industry to endorse, produce and Distribute Holey Water to the performance horse industry.

Holey Water is a DRUG FREE astringent that will benefit your horse’s health and ability to perform though preventing and reducing injuries.

Instructions for Use

Holey Water can be used on legs, back and muscles. First moisten the area with cool water and rub into the area with firm strokes of your hand (s). When rubbing into legs we recommend 50 strokes to the legs while applying Holey Water. We then recommend wetting a leg cotton and track wrap, and wrapping the legs a usual. We also recommend wrapping both legs even if the swelling is just on one leg. This gives equal support.

The same procedure for applying to the back. Wet down and begin to rub in Holey Water. Wet down several times with Holey Water and continue to rub. Then wet (cold water) down a hand or bath towel and place directly over the sore area. Cover with horse sheet or blanket to hold the wet towel in place. Repeat this application every hour or two for maximum benefit. We always use Holey Water after competition to prevent filling and relieve any soreness or tenderness.
